High Precision CNC Turning
CNC turning is a manufacturing process in which material bars are positioned in a chuck and rotated while a specific tool is utilized to remove identified material to create the desired shape. The high precision CNC turning process is controlled through sophisticated computer software that precisely controls the material and tooling so that it cuts to the programmer’s exact specifications.
TDB Hanoi Precision is an industry-leading provider of CNC turned parts and high precision CNC turning capabilities. Contact us for more information on our precision turned parts and CNC turning services, or call us at 0969-828-515 and we will be happy to assist you with your direct CNC turning questions.
Precision Turned Parts Manufacturing
We use state-of-the-art Swiss-style CNC lathes to produce tight tolerance turned metal parts for all applications. We work with metal bar stock up to 5.25” O.D. and can machine faces and flats with tolerances of up to ±0.0005”, and feature positions and profiles at up to ±0.0005”.
Even the most complex or intricate part designs can be reproduced accurately and with perfect repeatability, from the first piece to the hundred-thousandth. We work from your CAD or other digital design files to deliver precision turned parts that match your exact specifications. DFM service is available (see below).
TDB Hanoi Precision specializes in high volume CNC turning. We can turn and process tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of parts or more. This enables us to run our CNC lathes with a single tooling setup for long periods, resulting in faster and more efficient production. We have nonstop manufacturing capabilities, including “lights out” production with our automated CNC technology, that allows for 24/6 production.
CNC Turned Parts Integrated Quality Control Processes
We have integrated our CNC turning and machining department with our CMM and quality assurance department. We utilize Zeiss CMMs (coordinate measuring machines) for in-process and final production checks to guarantee the accuracy and quality of finished parts.
Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
We offer DFM services to help make part production faster, easier, and less expensive. Our engineering team will work with you, as needed, to optimize your designs for better manufacturability, without altering the fit, form, or function of your turned parts.
In-House Tooling Shop
We design, build, and service all tooling for our CNC turning projects in-house. We monitor every step of the process to ensure the precision and quality of your finished parts. All tooling is custom built to each project, and we will service and maintain your tooling for the life of your program, whether you need ten thousand or ten million parts per year.
What Is the Difference Between CNC Turning and CNC Milling?
CNC Turning uses computer-controlled machines to create a process uses a single-point cutting tool that inserts parallel to the material to cut. The material is rotated at changing speeds and the tool cutting traverses to create cylindrical cuts with exact measurements. CNC turning can be used to create circular or tubular shares from larger material pieces. It is an automated process and speeds can be adjustments for greater accuracy.
Conversely, CNC Milling uses a similar set of input data, but the part is affixed in place and the tooling is spun at high speed to remove material. The mill drills and moves along multiple axes to cut materials on paths programmed via computer. Computer programming allows machines to make precise cuts repeatedly to maintain part consistency.
What Are the Advantages of CNC Turning?
A CNC machine is a machine that utilizes Computer Numerical Control over machine tools like lathes, routers, grinders or mills. The CNC machine language provides precise control over features like speed, location, coordination and feed rate. By feeding the raw bar stock into the machine it can continuously run with minimal attending. Some of the direct benefits related to bar fed precision turned parts, include:
- Improves machining accuracy
- Enables complex detail
- Creates flexibility in manufacturing
- Increases safety
- Boosts production volume
- Reduces setup-changeover time
